Floating Cogwheel, ø 7' 7"
on a monolithic base-stone in
 front of Gersthofen City Hall
Artist: Reinhold Grübl

Water pumped up from beneath the socket lubricates the sculpture,
forcing it to turn gently. Thus begun,
the feature stone continues to revolve until the water supply is shut off. In addition to their public appeal,
floating spheres offer the advantage
of an infinite life span which is
guaranteed by precise hydraulic
operation and frictionless movement.
