In front of the Science Museum of Virginia  these two spheres form a model of the earth-moon system at a scale of one foot = 1,000 miles. Engraved with the moon's distinctive features the small sphere spins, like its celestial prototype, counterclockwise. The large sphere rotates along the same axis as the Earth's rotation - 23.4 degrees, with its North Pole point to the North Star.
